wired Homeserver access no internet – wireless no homeserver but internet access
I am having some network problems that seemed to be related to windows update; but the more I think about it I believe that it may be simply bad timing on the part of windows update. As soon as the computers applied the updates they rebooted to computer difficulties. I first noticed it when my wife (Win 7 64) could not connect to the printer. (Printer was offline – she connects to the router wirelessly and the printer is wired). I then checked my computer and when looking for the printer under devices and printers – I literally had nothing. I then restored my computer to an earlier restore point and regained my printer but lost the homeserver. (I usually have a wired cable plugged in as well as wireless on my win 7 64 notebook). On my network there is: · 2 windows 7 ultimate 64 computers - wireless no homeserver but internet access · 1 windows 7 ultimate 64 computer - wireless no homeserver but internet access (interesting thing to note - it was turned off and did not get updated and CAN ACCESS THE WIRED PRINTER) · 1 windows xp - wireless no homeserver but internet access · Wired printer - HP 7310 · Skype phone – wired – CAN access internet – I said that it is wired and CAN access the internet · Windows home Server V1 – wired and apparently cannot access the internet because when I can connect to it, it tells me that windows live domains has failed What I have done to remedy the situation on my Win 7 machine: · Turned off windows firewall · Used a static IP (208.67.222.222) · Reset the winsock · Reinstalled the Ethernet driver · Reset the router to basic [factory] settings (tomato router) · Tried a different Ethernet hub It’s like I have two separate networks. Wireless when I want internet. Wired when I want to access the homeserver BUT NOT PRINTER. Unless of course if I am using the machines that did not get the updates in that case it is wireless and internet but no printer or homeserver, but wired homeserver and printer but no internet. At this point I need a fresh perspective. I have included a test file from Microsoft Network Monitor. HERE You guys take a look and see if you can give me some insight.

For further information, I just tried unplugging the hub and connected it directly to the ISP's DSL router; I was able to connect to everything - printer/ homeserver / internet through a wired connection. I will continue testing but for now it appears that it is my router.

Hi Fundamentalman, How's going now? Based on all the above information, I suggest you uninstall the router, clear the configuration. Then reinstall and re-configure it to check if it works. At the same time, temporarily turn off the firewall/anti-virus software. Regards, Miya TechNet Subscriber Support in forum.
